Also called Similar audience.
A lookalike audience is one an ad platform builds by finding people who resemble a list you supply, such as past customers or high-value jobs.
It is the most direct way to turn a contractor's existing customer list into new demand, and the list most contractors already have is better than they think.
The output is only as good as the input. A lookalike built from all form fills teaches the platform to find more people who fill forms; one built from customers who actually signed, and better still from the largest jobs, teaches it to find buyers. Feeding it the wrong list is the most common way this underperforms.
It pairs naturally with database reactivation, because both start from the same asset. Cleaning and segmenting the CRM to run a reactivation campaign produces exactly the seed lists worth uploading, so the work gets used twice.
Keep it fresh. A seed list from three years ago describes a business and a market that may have moved, and the platforms weight recency more heavily than most advertisers assume.
